Rajpath set to be renamed Kartavya Path: Report
The revamped Rajpath and Central Vista lawns in the national capital, which will be open to the public soon, is all set to be renamed Kartavya Path, reports said.
Rajpath was a Hindi translation of 'Kingsway', the boulevard's name during British rule, named after King George V.
The NDMC has convened a special meeting on September 7 for the renaming.
“We are convening a special meeting on September 7 to discuss and rename the Central Vista and Rajpath stretch as Kartavya Path. The proposal is yet to come but the meeting has been called. All members and officials concerned will participate in the meeting,” NDMC Vice Chairperson and BJP leader Satish Upadhyay told a news channel.
The entire stretch from India Gate to Rashtrapati Bhawan was likely to be opened to the public next week after a 20-month gap.
