Widespread violence in Pune and Mumbai, CM Fadnavis orders probe
Mumbai: Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadanvis on Tuesday announced a judicial inquiry in the Bhima Koregaon incident in which a man died after violence erupted between the two communities on Monday.
The violence took place on Monday when people were heading towards a war memorial to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the Bhima Koregaon battle in Pune district.The inquiry committee would be headed by a sitting High Court judge and action will be taken against those who were spreading rumours on social media, the Chief Minister told reporters here.Mr Fadanvis also announced a Rs 10 lakh compensation to the family members of the youth.(UNI)
