1 Chris Gayle’s 175:
One record that has stood the test of time in IPL history is Chris Gayle’s record for the highest individual score of the tournament. The legendary West Indies opener went berserk against Pune Warriors in 2013. Gayle played sensational innings of 175* off 66 balls, smashing 13 fours and 17 sixes, a tournament record. Gayle slammed his century off 30 balls, another IPL record.
2 Alzarri Joseph’s 6/12:
The West Indies speedster broke the long-standing record of Sohail Tanvir in 2019. Joseph ran through Sunrisers Hyderabad’s batting line up to help Mumbai Indians’ defend a low score of 136. He registered figures of 6/12 in 3.4 overs, which remains the best bowling figures in IPL history. With the pitches becoming heavily in favour of batters, the record is unlikely to be broken anytime soon.
3 Chris Gayle and Ravindra Jadeja most runs in an over:
One of the worst incidents for a bowler is being hit left, right and center in a particular over by a batter. In the history of IPL, two bowlers hold the record for leaking most runs in a single over. First one was Prasanth Parmasweran, who was hit for 37 runs by Chris Gayle in 2011. Later in 2021, Ravindra Jadeja emulated the feat against Harshal Patel, smashing him for 37 runs at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.
