Galgotias University Removed from AI Summit After Robot Dog Controversy
A controversy erupted at the AI Impact Summit in Delhi after Galgotias University showcased a robotic dog on the second day of the event. The university was accused of presenting a Chinese-made robot as its own innovation, prompting authorities to remove it from the summit’s expo area.
The issue began when a robot dog was displayed at the university’s pavilion during the summit. Viral videos on social media claimed that the device was an innovation developed by the university’s Centre of Excellence. However, several tech users pointed out that the robot closely resembled a commercial model manufactured by Unitree Robotics.

Adding to the controversy, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi posted on X, alleging that Chinese products were being showcased at the AI Impact Summit.

As the debate intensified, the university clarified that the robot was not presented as an in-house development. According to officials, the device had been procured for student training and research purposes and was displayed solely for academic demonstration.
Responding to criticism about whether the episode had harmed the country’s image, Professor Neha from the university stated that Galgotias University has contributed significantly to bringing recognition to India.
Following the controversy, the government directed that the university be immediately removed from the expo area of the summit. Authorities are now reportedly reviewing the matter.
