TVK Cadres Share Voting Videos Online, ECI to Take Action for Poll Violations
Despite strict guidelines by the election authorities prohibiting mobile phones inside polling booths, several cadres of TVK allegedly recorded videos while casting their votes and shared them on social media during the Puducherry Assembly elections.
According to reports, some individuals filmed themselves pressing the button for the party’s ‘Whistle’ symbol on the Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) and continued recording until the vote was confirmed on the VVPAT screen.
While a few activists openly recorded videos showing their faces, others attempted to conceal their identities while filming and uploading the clips online.
Taking serious note of the incident, District Election Officer and Collector Kulothungan stated that the election department is currently reviewing the videos. He confirmed that cases will be registered against those involved for violating election rules and the model code of conduct.
