UP SHOCKER! 3 Men Cook Meat Over Burning Funeral Pyre in Shahjahanpur
A disturbing incident has been reported from Shahjahanpur in Uttar Pradesh, where three men were allegedly found cooking meat over a burning funeral pyre at a cremation ground on Sunday evening. A video purportedly showing the incident has also surfaced.
The deceased man's son, along with some relatives, reportedly confronted the men and managed to catch one of them. The other two allegedly escaped on a motorcycle.
Police reached the cremation ground after receiving information about the incident and took the detained man to the police station. The deceased's son later submitted a written complaint at around 6 pm.
The incident took place in Naththapur village, which falls under the Puwayan police station area.
Family returns to check the funeral pyre
Chhotelal, 60, a resident of Naththapur, died on Saturday after a prolonged illness. His family and relatives took him to the cremation ground on Sunday afternoon for the last rites.
After the funeral, the family returned home. About an hour later, his son Veerpal decided to revisit the cremation site.
According to Veerpal, he wanted to check whether any piece of wood had fallen away from the pyre so it could be placed back on it.
Three men found at the site
Veerpal said he reached the cremation ground with some relatives and was shocked to see three people preparing meat over his father's burning pyre.
According to his complaint, the meat had been placed in a cooking pot and was being heated using the flames from the funeral pyre.
Veerpal and his relatives tried to stop the men. They managed to catch one of them, while the other two escaped on a motorcycle.
Veerpal then contacted the police through Dial 112. Officers arrived at the spot and took the man who had been caught into custody.
Complaint submitted to police
In his written complaint, Veerpal alleged that the three men had been cooking meat over his father's burning pyre. He further claimed that they appeared to be "tantriks" based on their appearance.
Calling the alleged act objectionable, he requested police action against those involved.
Puwayan Circle Officer Praveen Malik confirmed that the complaint had been received.
"The complaint has been received. Based on the complaint, action will be taken to register an FIR," Malik said.
Police are searching for the two men who allegedly fled the scene. The allegations are being examined and further action will follow based on the investigation.
