UPI ATM unveiled: Now withdraw money without using debit card

Hitachi Payment Services, a subsidiary of Japan-based Hitachi, has recently launched UPI-ATM as a White Label ATM (WLA) in association with National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI).

Touted as Hitachi Money Spot UPI ATM, it offers secure card-less cash withdrawals.

Hitachi Money Spot UPI ATM was unveiled at Global Fintech Fest 2023 in Mumbai on September 5 in the presence of RBI Governor Shaktikanta Das and Dilip Asbe, CEO and MD, of NPCI.

A UPI-ATM allows you to withdraw cash from your bank accounts using the UPI app. Anyone with a registered UPI app will be eligible for UPI ATM transactions.

At the Global Fintech Fest, an avid FinTech enthusiast Ravisutanjani Kumar shared a video on X (formerly Twitter) showing how to make a cash withdrawal using UPI ATM.



How to withdraw cash from UPI ATM?

Here are the steps how you can withdraw money from the UPI-ATM

  1. Select 'UPI Cardless Cash' on the screen of the ATM
  2. Select the amount you want to withdraw from the ATM
  3. QR code for the selected amount will appear on the screen
  4. Scan the QR code using any UPI app on your mobile phone
  5. Enter your UPI PIN to authorise the transaction
  6. UPI app will display a confirmation message and the ATM will dispense the cash
  7. Collect the cash
