WATCH - Madhya Pradesh bridge, built a year ago, collapses after heavy rains
Raisen: A portion of a recently-laid bridge, connecting the Madhya Pradesh capital with Narmadapuram, has collapsed owing to the Kaliasot River being in spate on account of heavy precipitation over a large part of the state for the past few days.
The structure, which was constructed by incurring an expenditure of crores, is at Mandideep in this district adjoining Bhopal and the damage occurred during the intervening night thereby affecting movement of vehicles.
The issue assumed political hues with the principal-opposition Congress flaying the ruling BJP and denouncing the matter as an instance of corruption. (UNI)
