Hooghly: Trinamool Congress Lok Sabha member from Hooghly Rachana Banerjee faced ridicule and criticism after she accused the DVC of being responsible for flooding the South Bengal districts by discharging quintal and quintal of water from the dams. While touring her constituency at Balagarh, the actress-tuened-MP said that without informing the people, the Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) released quintal and quintal of water flooding the houses and the people were rendered homeless. It may be mentioned that a quintal is a metric unit of mass equal to 100 kilograms. It is used for measuring solids and not liquids. The amount of water released from a dam is commonly measured in cusecs. The video footage containing Banerjee's comments became viral within hours, inviting biting sarcasm and sharp opprobrium. কুইন্টাল-কিউসেক ঘেঁটে ঘ! জলের একক বলতে গিয়ে ট্রোল্ড রচনা#Kolkata #RachanaBanerjee @BJP4Bengal @BJP4Serampore @chanchalkrghosh pic.twitter.com/24ijsqC2Qi— Ritu Parna (@Ritu70707) September 25, 2024 BJP Hooghly district general secretary Suresh Sau said Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee can consider keeping the MP from Hoghy in the museum.
