4 reasons why KJO's multi starrer project "Takht" was closed

In August 2018,Filmmaker announced the star cast of his upcoming multi-starrer historical magnum opus 'Takht'.'Takht' had Kareena Kapoor Khan, Ranveer Singh, Alia Bhatt, Janhvi Kapoor, Vicky Kaushal, and in lead roles.

However now he has decided to close down the project with heavy heart and informed all the actors. The preparations of the movie had reached the mid way mark but covid pandemic played a spoilsport. There are 4 major reasons why KJO sent in cold storage.

1) Expensive project: This is a period drama which costs a lot on sets and casts. Also, there were many famous actors in the film who charges a whopping amount. The film's budget was about 300 crores rupees.

Producing such an expensive film can be risky in today's scenario. Karan is currently making a film called Brahmastra which has a budget of about Rs 350 crore. The release date of the movie is hanging in balance. Hence, Karan is avoiding producing another expensive film.

2) Mughal History: Takht is based on Mughal history which can backfire after the release. Producing a film on Mughal history may prove to be a wrong decision as every other day there is an online backlash that affects the total collection of the movie.

3) No Studio Ready: It was reported that no studio was ready to join this film. Karan had a dialogue with some studios but to no avail. Even the Fox Star Studios which has a partnership with Karan's banner Dharma Production, was not ready for it.

4) COVID-19: Due to COVID-19, The audience is not ready to come to the cineplexes despite 100 % full occupancy. Amid Ambiguity of the future, this decision was taken.
