From Bikini Shots to Kashmir References: Everything CBFC Changed in Welcome to the Jungle

Akshay Kumar’s upcoming ensemble comedy 'Welcome to the Jungle' has reportedly run into significant censorship hurdles ahead of its release, with the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) mandating 18 cuts, according to media reports.

The film, directed by Ahmed Khan, is part of the popular Welcome franchise and is scheduled for theatrical release on June 26. However, it has faced repeated delays since production began in December 2023, pushing its release timeline by nearly two and a half years.

CBFC Orders 18 Cuts Before Release

As the film prepares for its global release, reports suggest that the CBFC has ordered 18 modifications, including the removal or alteration of politically and culturally sensitive dialogues, as well as scenes deemed inappropriate.

The film has reportedly been certified UA 16+ with a runtime of 2 hours and 44 minutes after the required changes were implemented.

According to reports, several dialogues were modified or replaced, including politically sensitive references and slang expressions. Terms and phrases considered objectionable or controversial were either muted or substituted with neutral alternatives.

The dialogue “Kala paida hua… koayla hai” with “Saadah paida hua… namoona hua hai”, deleting the “Panni of Kashmir” dialogue and changing a line mentioning the “Gorkha Regiment” to “tum army se ho?”. The word “Azaruddeen” was replaced with “Allaudin”, while “Andha” was muted and substituted with “dheela”. References to “General” were also changed to “officer” and “sir”.

Bikini and Sensual Scenes Censored

In addition to dialogue modifications, the CBFC has also ordered cuts to several visual sequences. This includes the removal of bikini scenes, close-ups of women’s hips, and certain hip-movement shots in a song.

The visuals featuring actresses Disha Patani and Jacqueline Fernandez were among those specifically flagged for modification. Certain shots considered inappropriate for family viewing have reportedly been removed or edited.

Furthermore, a scene containing an objectionable hand gesture has been replaced with an alternate shot featuring actor Vindu Dara Singh.

Star-Studded Ensemble Cast

The third installment in the hit comedy series features a massive ensemble cast including Akshay Kumar, Suniel Shetty, Arshad Warsi, Paresh Rawal, Jackie Shroff, Jacqueline Fernandez, Disha Patani, Raveena Tandon, Lara Dutta, Farida Jalal, Johny Lever, Shreyas Talpade, Tusshar Kapoor, Rajpal Yadav, and others.
