Vir Das Slams Artists' Silence Over Student Protest, Takes Dig at Dhurandhar
Actor and comedian Vir Das has questioned the silence of Indian live performers and artists over the ongoing student protest, urging them to show support and calling their inaction "sheer hypocrisy."
Sharing a note on Instagram on Tuesday, Das said artists who ignore issues affecting young people often expect public support for their own shows and events.

"If you are an Indian live artist, I hope you understand the sheer hypocrisy of not speaking up for the people, and then trying to sell them tickets later," Das wrote.
He added that artists cannot remain silent on issues that matter to audiences and then expect the same people to stand up for them.

"You are appearing as a silent viewer to what the Indian crowd cares about, and then expecting an Indian crowd to be loud and vocal and care about you. Apna apna dekh lo, lekin mere liye pahunch jaana. Doesn’t work," he said.
Das further said that while some artists claim to stay away from politics, the issue is now about young people and their concerns rather than political differences.
"I understand that ‘you’re not political’ is often a way of saying ‘I’m really comfortable’. But today, I’d humbly submit that this issue is not political or partisan anymore. It’s about the youth," he wrote, encouraging artists to use their platforms to highlight issues important to students.

Dig at 'Dhurandhar'
In another Instagram post, Vir Das appeared to take a sarcastic swipe at the film Dhurandhar, while commenting on the official response to the student protest.
He wrote that a fictional movie made years later might portray the events as a major national security operation rather than focusing on alleged administrative failures.ALSO READ: Salman Khan Shuts Down Health Rumours With Witty Instagram Post: 'Aap Logon Ki Tabiyat Kaisi Hai?'

“Can’t wait for the movie about this week in ten years where bro is embedded into the world of youth protesters to save the nation from a deep state nexus of anti-national NEET giving naxals. Infact the only reason the paper was leaked was to throw them off. It wasn’t incompetence or corruption, it was counter intelligence,” he wrote.
Bollywood Celebrities Extend Support
Several other Bollywood personalities, including Diljit Dosanjh, Riteish Deshmukh, Genelia Deshmukh, Sonu Sood, Dia Mirza, Soha Ali Khan, Prakash Raj, and Shabana Azmi have also expressed support for students' demands and the ongoing protest.
