Centre drops Plasma therapy from COVID-19 treatment protocol

coronavirus
New Delhi: The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), centre’s National Task Force for COVID-19 has revised the guidelines for the management of adult patients and dropped off label use of convalescent plasma for treatment.

Previous guidelines recommended plasma therapy within seven days of the onset of symptoms.

The decision was taken as the treatment was not found beneficial in reducing the progression to severe disease or death. (UNI)
