Meta Restores PM Modi's Facebook Video, Says 'It Was Removed Due To Technical Glitch'
Meta on Monday said it had restored the late night video posted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi after it was briefly taken down due to an error.
The video, which had become temporarily inaccessible in the early hours of July 28, was reinstated after the company clarified that its removal was inadvertent.
"This content was removed in error and has now been restored," a Meta spokesperson said.
The video, released on July 23, marked Prime Minister Modi's first direct video message aimed at Gen Z amid the ongoing 36-day student protest led by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP). In the address, Modi said that the government would announce "stricter action against paper leaks" at the following day's Cabinet meeting. Before it was briefly restricted, the video had garnered millions of views on Facebook.
An initial notice displayed on the platform stated that access to the video had been restricted due to a "legal request", without offering further details. The message sparked criticism and questions from several BJP leaders.
The video has since been restored. Government sources said officials may seek an explanation from the company over the incident.
