In the advisory, MEA has advised pilgrims not to begin their journey from India until all required travel documents for the entire trip have been obtained. This includes valid visas, entry permits, and any other approvals needed to complete the pilgrimage.

The govt warns that commencing travel without confirmed documentation or with the expectation of obtaining permits later can significantly increase the chances of being stranded.

The advisory comes after 52 Indian citizens travelling to Kailash Mansarovar via Nepal were stopped in Kathmandu because they did not possess the required travel documents needed to enter China.
The pilgrims have been unable to proceed with their journey, prompting calls for immediate assistance from Indian authorities.

The issue was highlighted by Nationalist Congress Party (Sharad Pawar faction) MP Supriya Sule, who appealed to the Ministry of External Affairs and Indian embassies in Nepal and China to intervene.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Sule said that nearly 52 Indian pilgrims were stranded in Kathmandu and required urgent support. She requested External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar and Indian diplomatic missions to ensure their safe onward journey.
