Covid-19: Telangana Govt extends lockdown till May 30
Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister K.Chandrashekhar Rao on Tuesday decided to extend the ongoing lockdown in the state till May 30 to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
After receiving the opinion of the cabinet minister over phone, Mr Rao has decided to extend the complete lockdown, an official release from CMs office said here.
The CM instructed Chief Secretary Somesh Kumar to issue GO on the extension of the lockdown from 10 am on May 22.
As the Ministers are busy monitoring the Corona curtailment measures and medical services at the field level, the CM has cancelled the State Cabinet meeting, which is scheduled on May 20.
The government had earlier imposed a 10-day statewide lockdown from 10 am on May 12 to 6 am on May 22, in view of the sudden surge in coronavirus disease cases.
Before imposing the first complete lockdown from May 12, the government had implemented a night curfew (from 2100 hours to 0500 hours) from April 20 and it was extended by another 10-days subsequently.
Telangana on Tuesday reported 3,982 Covid-19 cases taking a tally to over 5.36 lakh while the toll stood at 3,012 with 27 casualties, according to a bulletin issued by the state Public Health Department. (UNI)
