Uttar Pradesh: Leopard which killed farmer trapped by forest dept
Bahraich (UP): A leopard which attacked a farmer in the Kakraha area of the protected Katarniaghat Wildlife Division located in Bahraich district here in Uttar Pradesh has been trapped by the forest department, official sources said here on Monday.
The forest department sources that on Sunday the leopard attacked and killed 35-year-old Kandhai, a resident of Majra Maikupurwa of Gram Panchayat Dharampur Bejha under Kakraha range of Katarniaghat Wildlife Division.
"The incident had caused resentment in the entire village and local residents were demanding the forest department to set up a cage to catch the leopard," they said.

Sources said that the forest department set up a cage in the area with a bait last night. "The leopard got trapped in the cage at around 3 am in the morning while looking for food," they said.

Sources said that the forest department team brought the leopard to the range office. Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) B Shiv Shankar said that the health checkup of the leopard will done after which the process of sending it to the forest or zoo will be started on the orders of the officials.
