Uttar Pradesh becomes table topper in milk Production

To mark the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the Dairy Development Department, Dairy Conclave 2026 was organized in all 75 districts on Wednesday. The event was jointly organized by the Dairy Development Department and the Animal Husbandry Department. Dairy Commissioner Dhanalakshmi K. stated that India will be the world's largest milk producer in 2024-25, with a milk production of approximately 248 million metric tons. Uttar Pradesh ranks first in the country with approximately 38.8 million metric tons of milk production, contributing approximately 16 percent. The dairy sector is a powerful medium for the rural economy, women's empowerment, employment generation, and increasing farmers' income.

She stated that a total of 17,994 beneficiaries are being benefited through various schemes under the Nand Baba Milk Mission, and the formation of 4,951 primary milk cooperatives has created approximately 2.25 lakh jobs directly and indirectly. In this program, selection letters were distributed to 2,100 newly selected beneficiaries of the Chief Minister's Swadeshi Cow Conservation Scheme, over 1,500 under the Mini Nandini Krishak Samriddhi Yojana, and over 450 under the Nandini Krishak Samriddhi Yojana across the state. Additionally, 829 MoUs worth over ₹28,000 crore were signed in the dairy sector. Under the Uttar Pradesh Dairy Development and Milk Product Promotion Policy-2022, milk processing and refrigeration capacity has increased by 3.9 million liters per day, and approximately 10,000 jobs have been created. A grant of approximately ₹42 crore was also provided to investors through DBT.

Public representatives, administrative officials, representatives of animal husbandry and agricultural science centers, dairy unions, progressive dairy farmers, cattle breeders, self-help groups, and members of milk cooperatives enthusiastically participated in the conclave. Departmental officers and experts gave information about modern dairy techniques, scientific animal husbandry, animal health, balanced animal diet and departmental schemes.
