A newlywed techie couple was forced to attend their own reception virtually after their IndiGo flight from Bhubaneswar to Hubballi was abruptly cancelled due to the ongoing airline chaos.Medha Ksheeragar and Sangam Das, who tied the knot in Bhubaneswar on November 23, were scheduled to fly to Hubballi for their December 3 wedding reception at Gujarat Bhavan in Deshpande Nagar. Both work as software engineers in Bengaluru and had travelled to Odisha for their wedding ceremonies. However, their plans were thrown into disarray when their IndiGo flight—scheduled for the afternoon of December 2—faced repeated delays and was finally cancelled early on December 3. With all arrangements already in place and relatives gathered at the venue, the family decided to go ahead with the event. Due to nationwide #Indigoairlines flight cancellations, a newlywed couple couldn’t make it to their own reception in #Hubballi from #Bhubaneswar.Guests had already gathered, so the bride’s parents went ahead & hosted the event with the couple joining online via video call. pic.twitter.com/YXYMb4Hk9e— Sagay Raj P (@sagayrajp) December 5, 2025 Medha’s sister, Anjana Ksheerasagar, said, “The couple waited the entire day hoping the flight would take off, but it was cancelled early morning. Since guests had already arrived, we continued with the reception, and the bride and groom joined online.”At the venue, Medha and Sangam’s parents stood on stage to receive guests, while the newlyweds greeted everyone virtually through a big screen.
