Uganda Army Chief Demands $1 Billion and ‘Most Beautiful Turkish Woman’

Uganda Army Chief Muhoozi Kainerugaba
Uganda’s Chief of Defence Forces, Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has once again stirred controversy on social media with a series of unusual and provocative statements—this time targeting Turkey.

The general, who is also the son of Uganda’s President Yoweri Museveni, issued a 30-day ultimatum to Turkey, demanding $1 billion in cash along with “the most beautiful woman in Turkey” as his wife.

Posting repeatedly on X on April 11, Kainerugaba accused Turkey of profiting heavily from infrastructure projects, ports, and airports in Somalia, while Uganda has spent nearly two decades deploying troops to fight Al-Shabaab militants and maintain regional security.
Citing Uganda’s long-standing military role in African Union missions, he described his demand as a “security dividend,” writing that in addition to $1 billion, he wanted “the most beautiful woman” from Turkey as his wife.

In another post, he warned, “For Turkey, it's a really simple deal... Either they pay us, or I close their embassy here.”

Kainerugaba insisted that Uganda-Turkey relations are serious and should not be dismissed as social media theatrics. However, he also cautioned that diplomatic ties could soon be severed, stating, “Forget Twitter games. We will close diplomatic relations with them very soon.” He further accused Turkey of betrayal, saying, “Who needs a friend who keeps stabbing you in the back?”

He also advised Ugandan citizens to avoid traveling to Turkey “for your own safety.”

In the same series of posts, the general expressed strong support for Israel, claiming he was ready to deploy 100,000 Ugandan troops under his command to protect what he described as the “Holy Land.”

This is not the first time Kainerugaba has made headlines for controversial remarks. In October 2022, he offered 100 Ankole cows—calling them “the most beautiful in the world”—in exchange for marrying Giorgia Meloni.

His latest comments have once again drawn global attention, raising questions about diplomacy, military rhetoric, and the role of social media in international relations.
