Zootopia 3 Confirmed: Disney Announces Third Film After Zootopia 2 Success
Disney is officially expanding its blockbuster animated franchise with “Zootopia 3”, following the phenomenal global performance of “Zootopia 2”.
The third installment was confirmed at Disney’s D23 Expo, giving fans of the animal-filled metropolis another reason to look forward to the franchise’s next chapter. “Zootopia 2”, released in 2025, became a massive box-office success, earning approximately $1.8 billion worldwide.

Zootopia franchise set for another adventure
The franchise began with the 2016 animated film “Zootopia”, which introduced audiences to Judy Hopps, an ambitious rabbit who becomes a police officer in the bustling city of Zootopia. Ginnifer Goodwin voices Judy, while Jason Bateman lends his voice to Nick Wilde, a quick-witted fox and former con artist.
Judy and Nick initially find themselves on opposite sides after Judy joins the Zootopia Police Department. However, they eventually overcome their differences and work together to solve a mystery that threatens the animal city.
The first “Zootopia” became a worldwide blockbuster, crossing the $1 billion mark at the global box office. Its popularity also led to the Disney+ spin-off series “Zootopia+”.
Who is returning for Zootopia 3?
Disney has confirmed that Ginnifer Goodwin will return as Judy Hopps, while Ke Huy Quan is also set to reprise his role as Gary De’Snake.
Quan and Goodwin appeared together at the D23 Showcase in Anaheim, where the third movie was confirmed. The upcoming film is expected to further expand the world of Zootopia and introduce more characters from the animal kingdom.
However, one major question remains unanswered: Will Jason Bateman return as Nick Wilde?
Disney did not confirm Bateman’s involvement in the third film, leaving fans waiting for an official update on whether Nick will once again team up with Judy.

What happened in Zootopia 2?
“Zootopia 2” expanded the franchise with several new characters, including the reptilian Gary De’Snake, played by Ke Huy Quan. The sequel also featured voices from Fortune Feimster as Nibbles Maplestick, Andy Samberg as Pawbert Lynxley, David Strathairn as Milton Lynxley, Macaulay Culkin as Cattrick Lynxley, Brenda Song as Kitt Lynxley, Quinta Brunson as Dr. Fuzzby, Robert Irwin as Robert Furwin and Patrick Warburton as Brian Winddancer.
With “Zootopia 3” now officially in development, fans will be eager to learn more about its storyline, release date, director and returning cast. The biggest question for now remains whether the beloved duo of Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde will reunite for another adventure.
