The teaser of “Ranabaali”, starring Vijay Deverakonda and Rashmika Mandanna, has been released, offering a glimpse into a largely untold chapter of Indian history.Produced by Mythri Movie Makers and directed by Rahul Sankrityayan, the film brings to the screen a chapter of Indian history that has not been widely narrated for a long time.
The film’s story is set against the backdrop of the devastating famine that struck Madras and several parts of South India during the years 1876-1878. In the film, Deverakonda plays Ranaabali, a Telugu man from the Rayalaseema region, while his real-life wife plays his on-screen better half, Jayamma. The pair will be seen in a different and raw avatar this time. Hollywood actor Arnold Vosloo plays the tyrannical British officer, Sir Theodore Hector, in the film.
