Why Did Jailer 2's Hindi Release Become a Talking Point?
The uncertainty reportedly arose from disagreements over the film's digital streaming deal and the gap between its theatrical release and OTT premiere.
According to media reports, Sun Pictures has sold the OTT rights for Jailer 2 to Prime Video for ₹160 crore.
The main point of contention reportedly concerns the theatrical-to-OTT release window.
Major multiplex chains, including PVR INOX and Cinepolis, follow an eight-week gap between the theatrical release of a Hindi film and its OTT premiere. However, reports suggest that Sun Pictures has agreed to a shorter, four-week window for Jailer 2 across languages.
With the film reportedly expected to arrive on streaming in November, the difference in release-window expectations triggered speculation that the Hindi version might not receive a wide release across multiplexes.
