Renowned Malayalam film director and former MLA P T Kunju Muhammad has been arrested in connection with a molestation case involving a woman linked to the film industry, police officials confirmed on Wednesday.
 
According to the police, Kunju Muhammad appeared before investigators at the Cantonment Police Station on Tuesday in response to a notice issued as part of the probe. His arrest was formally recorded, following which he was granted bail, as he had already obtained anticipatory relief from a court.
 
The case was registered earlier this month after the woman lodged a complaint alleging that the director molested her at a hotel. At the time, both were reportedly staying there in connection with the selection of Malayalam films for the recently concluded International Film Festival of Kerala (IFFK).
