Tom Cruise’s ‘Digger’ Promises a Never-Seen-Before Role, WATCH Trailer
The poster and trailer of Tom Cruise’s upcoming film 'Digger', directed by Oscar-winning filmmaker Alejandro G. Iñárritu, were released on Monday. The visuals feature Cruise in an unexpected role as an oil baron whose company may have triggered a major ecological catastrophe.
Shot entirely on VistaVision, the film is being distributed by Warner Bros. Pictures and is scheduled to release in cinemas across India on October 2.
The trailer shows Cruise sporting a grey combover, a pot belly and a strong southern accent as Digger Rockwell, an oil baron whose company may have caused an environmental disaster with consequences that could potentially lead to a nuclear war.

According to the film’s logline, Digger “embarks on a frantic mission to prove that he is humanity’s saviour before the disaster he’s unleashed destroys everything.”
Before the trailer launch, Cruise recently interacted with the press and fans at a Warner Bros. event in Los Angeles, where he said the project was unlike anything he had worked on before.

“I have never had something that could challenge me in this way and neither had Alejandro when we went in, ever,” Cruise said, according to The Hollywood Reporter. “When you see this film, it’s totally original.”
Around seven years ago, Iñárritu introduced the idea of 'Digger' to Cruise over several days, during which the director read the script aloud to the actor.
“I’m listening to everything that’s in his mind, so that I can understand that, and then I know how to contribute to it, and bring that collaboration together. It was beautiful,” Cruise said.

“There’s nothing better than to physically and metaphorically stand on the edge of a cliff and go, ‘Let’s do this. And I trust you, and whatever we’re going to do, I know this is going to be a hell of an experience,’” he added.
