Odisha Shocker! Class 12 student commits suicide after exam invigilator frisk her 'inappropriately'
A Class 12 student from Pattamundai College in Kendrapara district, Odisha, tragically took her own life on February 24 after allegedly facing sexual harassment from a college lecturer who was also an exam invigilator.
According to her mother, the lecturer touched her daughter inappropriately on the pretext of checking for any malpractice during the examination on February 19 and later called her to the staff room, where he harassed her again. When she protested, the lecturer threatened to expel her and warned her not to tell anyone about the incident.
The mother said when she came to know about the incident, she reported it to the college authorities who assured her to address the issue after the exams were over. However, the girl committed suicide on February 24.
The family reported the incident to the police, who are currently investigating the matter.
The police team visited Pattamundai College and collected the CCTV footages to ascertain the truth of the sexual assault allegations against the invigilator.
