Ketan Agarwal Murder Case: From Disability Plot to Murder, What Does the 5,053-Page Charge Sheet Reveal?
The Pune Police have filed a 5,053-page charge sheet in the high-profile Ketan Agarwal murder case at the Wadgaon Maval court, detailing several alleged plans and preparations behind the crime.
According to the charge sheet, Ketan's fiancée, Siya Goyal, her alleged lover Chetan Chaudhary and their associate Ritesh Sanjay Hange have been named as accused in the case. All three are currently in judicial custody.
Pune Rural Superintendent of Police Sandeep Singh Gill said that after an extensive investigation, the police collected technical and digital evidence and submitted the charge sheet before the court.
Initial plan was allegedly to make Ketan disabled
According to investigators, the accused initially planned to leave Ketan seriously disabled rather than kill him. The police claim they had contacted several people from outside Maharashtra to carry out the plan.
However, the accused allegedly abandoned the idea after fearing that the person hired for the job could blackmail them or approach the police. The person who was allegedly contacted for the contract has since become a police witness in the case.
Crime podcasts and Raja Raghuvanshi case studied
The charge sheet reportedly states that the accused watched several crime films and listened to murder podcasts while planning the crime and attempting to avoid detection.
Investigators also allege that they studied the widely reported Raja Raghuvanshi murder case in Meghalaya, in which Raja's wife, Sonam Raghuvanshi, was accused of arranging her husband's killing during their honeymoon in May 2025.
Why was Lohagad Fort chosen?
Towards the end of May, Siya and Chetan allegedly conducted reconnaissance of several locations around Lonavala, including Tiger Point. According to the police, they noticed that Tiger Point did not have CCTV cameras.
However, Lohagad Fort was eventually selected. Investigators believe the accused chose the location because a 21-year-old woman from Navi Sangvi had died after falling from Lohagad in March 2025. The accused believed that Ketan's death could similarly be portrayed as an accidental fall while taking a selfie.
Ketan and Siya were reportedly planning to travel to Bali for a pre-wedding photoshoot. On June 4, Siya allegedly insisted on visiting Lohagad.
The charge sheet alleges that on June 6, Siya tore up Ketan's passport and discarded it in the washroom of a cafe in Khalapur, preventing the planned Bali trip and allegedly clearing the way for the murder plan.
First attempt on June 14
The first alleged attempt was made on June 14 when Siya and Ketan visited Lohagad. According to the police, Siya allegedly tried to push Ketan, but he did not fall.
Investigators further allege that she then pretended that there was a snake nearby in an attempt to frighten Ketan and make him move towards the edge of the cliff. That plan also reportedly failed.
Fake Instagram account used to lure Ketan
After the failed attempt, the accused created a fake Instagram account named "Mahi" on June 18, reportedly on Ritesh Hange's advice.
According to the charge sheet, messages were sent to Ketan from the account to make him believe that Mahi was Siya's friend. He was persuaded to take Siya to Lohagad for a surprise birthday celebration.
The police claim that the fake Instagram account was deleted after the murder.
More than 100 witnesses named
The police have cited more than 100 witnesses in the charge sheet, including five eyewitnesses.
The investigation also includes mobile phone data, WhatsApp chats, call detail records (CDRs), photographs, location-tracking data and other digital analysis as scientific evidence submitted before the court. ALSO READ:
