Padmini Ekadashi 2026: Perform These 3 Evening Rituals for Prosperity and Happiness
Padmini Ekadashi holds special significance in Hinduism and is dedicated to the worship of Lord Vishnu. This year, the sacred fast is being observed on May 27. Along with fasting and puja rituals, certain astrological and spiritual remedies performed on this day are believed to bring peace, prosperity and success.
According to religious beliefs, Padmini Ekadashi occurs only once every three years during the extra lunar month, also known as Purushottam Maas or Adhik Maas. This rare Ekadashi is considered extremely auspicious, and devotees believe observing the fast grants spiritual merit equal to performing a yajna.
How to observe the Padmini Ekadashi fast
Devotees should wake up during Brahma Muhurta, take a bath and wear clean clothes before taking a vow to observe the fast and worship Lord Vishnu. During the puja, incense sticks and diyas should be lit while meditating on the deity.

The rituals traditionally begin with the worship of Lord Ganesha. Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi are then worshipped with offerings of water, milk and Panchamrit. Devotees also offer flowers, Tulsi leaves, beautiful garments, sweets and seasonal fruits.
Chanting the mantra “Om Namo Bhagavate Vasudevaya” is considered highly auspicious on this day. Those observing the fast may remain without food throughout the day or consume fruits, milk and juices if required.
In the evening, devotees perform another round of worship and aarti for Lord Vishnu. The fast is traditionally concluded the next morning after feeding the needy and offering prayers before breaking the fast.

Importance of charity on Ekadashi
Donating essential items on Ekadashi is believed to bring blessings and positive karma. During the summer season, donating water, umbrellas and footwear is considered especially beneficial. Devotees also donate grains, clothes and money. Offering donations at cow shelters and feeding green grass to cows is also regarded as highly auspicious.
