First Batch of Amarnath Yatra Pilgrims Departs from Kashi
The first group of devotees from Varanasi set off on Sunday for the annual Amarnath Yatra, marking the beginning of this year's pilgrimage from the holy city of Kashi. The pilgrims departed from Varanasi Cantt Railway Station, seeking the blessings of Baba Barfani at the revered Amarnath Cave Shrine in Jammu and Kashmir.
The journey has been organised under the banner of the Shri Kashi Vishwanath Seva Samiti, which has been serving Amarnath pilgrims for over two decades.

For the past 26 years, the Shri Kashi Vishwanath Seva Samiti has been providing free services to Amarnath pilgrims at Chandanwari, one of the major halting points on the pilgrimage route.

The organisation operates a large community kitchen where devotees are served freshly prepared meals, including traditional Banarasi dishes such as kachori, sabzi, jalebi, and thandai, along with South Indian cuisine.
Besides food, the committee also arranges accommodation and other essential facilities for nearly 300 pilgrims during the yatra.

Nearly 90 Volunteers Join Service Mission
Committee volunteer Dilip Singh "Bunty" said that around 80 to 90 volunteers are participating in this year's service mission.
According to him, a team of ten volunteers, led by Vivek Srivastava and Kuldeep Tyagi, will first travel to Punjab before transporting ration supplies to Chandanwari in two trucks. The remaining volunteers will reach Chandanwari via Jammu by trains including the Howrah-Amritsar Mail and Begumpura Express, where they will assist pilgrims throughout the yatra.

Public Representatives Extend Support
The annual service initiative has received support from several public representatives and social organisations. Among those backing the campaign are Mayor Ashok Tiwari, MLA Dr. Neelkanth Tiwari, MLA Saurabh Srivastava, Minister Dayashankar Mishra "Dayalu", and Shanti Lal Jain.

Additionally, local philanthropists Chhakkan Dada, Rajesh Chaurasia, and members of the Nandani family will distribute betel leaves and sweets to pilgrims as part of the traditional welcome and service activities.
