Found These 4 Things During Diwali Cleaning? Goddess Lakshmi's Blessings May Be Coming!

Diwali cleaning
Before Diwali, people across India clean every corner of their homes to remove negativity and welcome Goddess Lakshmi, the deity of wealth and prosperity. However, according to traditional Hindu beliefs, discovering certain objects while cleaning old cupboards, drawers and storage boxes is considered particularly auspicious. These unexpected finds are believed to be signs of Goddess Lakshmi's blessings, financial gains and happiness entering the household.

Here are four things that, according to Sanatan traditions, are considered auspicious if you discover them during Diwali cleaning.

1. Forgotten Money or Old Currency Notes

Coming across forgotten money in an old pocket, drawer or storage box is traditionally considered a positive sign. According to religious beliefs, it may indicate an improvement in financial circumstances and the possibility of recovering money that has been stuck for a long time.

Instead of spending the money immediately, traditional practices suggest cleaning it properly, keeping some of it at the place of worship and wrapping the remaining amount in a red cloth before storing it in the safe. This is believed to invite financial stability and increase the flow of wealth.

2. Conch Shell or Cowrie Shells

Conch shells (Shankh) and cowrie shells (Kauri) hold special significance in Hindu traditions and are associated with Goddess Lakshmi. Both are believed to have emerged during the Samudra Manthan (churning of the cosmic ocean).

Finding a conch or cowrie shells while cleaning your home is considered an auspicious sign of lasting happiness and prosperity.

If you discover these objects, traditional beliefs suggest purifying them with Gangajal and including them in your Diwali Lakshmi Puja. You can then place them in your home temple. ALSO READ: Rare Ravi Pushya Yoga Before Diwali on November 1: Check Auspicious Shopping Timings and What to Buy for Wealth and Prosperity

3. Peacock Feather

The peacock feather is closely associated with Lord Krishna and is considered sacred in Hindu traditions.

According to Vastu beliefs, finding a peacock feather while cleaning your home is considered a positive sign. It is believed to help ward off negative energies and protect the household from the evil eye.

If you find one, keep it respectfully in your home temple or your children's study room. Traditionally, it is also associated with wisdom, progress and good fortune.

4. Red Cloth or Chunari

The colour red symbolises good fortune, strength and divine blessings in Hindu traditions. It is also closely associated with Goddess Lakshmi and other forms of the Divine Mother.

Discovering a clean, intact red cloth or a chunari used for worship during Diwali cleaning is considered auspicious. According to traditional beliefs, it may indicate the fulfilment of wishes and happiness in married life.

You can respectfully place the cloth in your home temple or keep it in your safe as part of your religious practices. ALSO READ: When Is Diwali? Check Lakshmi Puja Muhurat and Auspicious Timings
