The holy month of Sawan (Shravan) is one of the most auspicious periods in the Hindu calendar and is dedicated to the worship of Lord Shiva. During this sacred month, millions of devotees observe Shravan Somvar (Monday) fasts, perform Rudrabhishek, and offer water, milk, and Bilva leaves to the Shivling.
In 2026, Sawan will begin on July 30 (Thursday) and conclude on August 28 (Friday) in North India. The month will include four Shravan Mondays. Since different regions of India follow either the Purnimanta or Amanta lunar calendar, the dates of Sawan vary across the country.
